GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 10

GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 10 ~ ~ Revelation 1:7 ~ ~ “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.”
We’re in Chapter 13 of “How to Read the Bible (as if your life depended on it……because it does)” by Dr. Michael Youssef.
PROMISES KEPT: PROPHECIES OF THE COMING KING
Avi Loeb is an Israeli-American astrophysicist and the longest-serving chairman of Harvard University’s astronomy department. On a popular podcast, Loeb talked about how one of the key features of the scientific method is “testability.” In other words, if a scientist makes a claim, that claim can be tested. Scientists around the world can conduct experiments to either confirm or falsify the claim.
Then Loeb made a fascinating statement: not only can you conduct experiments to test SCIENTIFIC ideas, but you can conduct “an experimental test of THEOLOGY.”
He told a story attributed to the Jewish philosopher Martin Buber. “The story goes that Martin Buber said, ‘The Christians argue that Jesus the Messiah has already arrived and will come back again in the future. The Jews argue that the Messiah never came and He will arrive in the future. So why argue? Both sides agree that the Messiah will arrive in the future. When the Messiah arrives, we can ask whether He visited us before. Then we can know.’ This is an experimental test of theology. Even theology, if it puts skin in the game by making a prediction, can be tested.”
This is a profound statement, coming from one of the greatest scientific minds in the world today. In fact, the “experimental test of theology” that Loeb proposes has already been conducted hundreds of times in the pages of the Old Testament. God’s word has put “skin in the game” by making many predictions that can be – and have been – tested.
From Genesis to Malachi, the Old Testament contain hundreds of prophecies of a future Covenant, a future Kingdom, and a coming Messiah. Though many Old Testament prophecies will not be fulfilled until Jesus returns at the end of history, many were already fulfilled with astonishing precision during His earthly lifetime ore than two thousand years ago.

“IT WILL NOT BE LONG”
James 5:8
“You also be patient. Establish your hearts for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”
Among the last words of the apocalypse we read, “the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” to which the heavenly Bridegroom answers, “Surely I come quickly.”
Love longs for the glorious appearing of the Lord and enjoys this sweet promise, “The coming of the Lord is at hand.” We look out with hope through this window.
This sacred “window of agate” lets in a flood of light upon the present and puts us into fine condition for immediate work or suffering. Are we tried? Are we growing weary because we do not see the harvest of our seed-sowing? This glorious truth cries to us, “Be patient.” Before long the Lord will be here, so establish your hearts.
Be firm, be constant, abounding in the work of the Lord. Soon will you hear the trumpets that announce the coming of your King. Hold the fort, for He is coming;’ He may appear this very day.

1 Corinthians 15:52-53
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1 Thessalonians 4:17
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
Revelation 13:8
All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 20:11
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
Revelation 21:1
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
Ps 119:49
Remember Your word to Your servant, for you have given me hope.
(I want to remind anyone reading this who isn’t sure of their salvation, to make sure now. Only those who have acknowledged Jesus as their personal Savior will be with Him. When we die, or He comes back, whichever is first, it’s too late after that. He took the punishment for your individual sins, and He’s offering you His perfect life in exchange for your sinful one. Now is the time. “Today is the day of Salvation” Tomorrow may be too late. Just tell Him in your own words that you want your sins forgiven by His sacrifice, and you want to live with Him forever. He makes the changes. It’s not about what you do. Live for Him and obey His word out of gratitude for what He has done for you.)
