GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 22
AUGUST 22
OUR PERSONAL PROMISES
John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth and the life. I am the light of the world.”
HELEN STEINER RICE
I AM THE WAY, so just follow ME. Though the way be rough and you cannot see
I AM THE TRUTH, which all men seek, so heed not “false prophets” nor the words that they speak.
I AM THE LIFE, and I hold the key that opens the door to eternity
And in this dark world I AM THE LIGHT TO THE PROMISED LAND WHERE THERE IS NO NIGHT!

This month we will continue the book, “Whatever Happens – How to Stand Firm in Your Faith When the World is Falling Apart.” By a contemporary author of many best-selling Christian books, Robert J. Morgan. He took care of his wife when she had MS, until she went home to her Savior. “He knows of which he speaks.” I pray that this book blesses you.
Philippians 4:19
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
WHATEVER HAPPENS …..CONSIDER YOURSELF WORTH MILLIONS
Genesis 27:28
“May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness – an abundance of grain and new wine.”
In Genesis 27, Isaac blessed his son Jacob, asking God to meet his needs from earth’s riches. When God created the world, He built into it all we need for life and prosperity. There’s air to breathe, food to eat; sunshine to warm; sunsets to thrill us; sunrises to give us fresh starts; gravity to hold us down; aerodynamics to lift us up; soil to cultivate; gold to excavate; and water to quench our thirst.
Ephesians 1:7
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”
The provisions of our privileged planet, however, can’t meet the needs of our souls. But the same God who built the provision of earth’s richness for our use and delight is also rich in grace. He is rich in love, and it touches you and me in the vital center of our souls. (if you want a Biblical study of our riches in one passage, read the first three chapters of Ephesians).
EPHESIANS 2:6-7
“God raised us up with Christ …in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.”
As rich as we are now, nothing can prepare us for the riches ahead of us – the new heaven and the new earth, described in Revelation 21-22, with the glorious capital city of New Jerusalem. That city is described for us so vividly that we can visualize it – an enormous diamond city with streets that glisten with gold, buildings effervescent with light, walls made of jewels, and gates made of pearls. Mansions, status, purpose, activity, access to the eternal throne, and undying worship.
2 CORINTHIANS 8:9
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.”
Consider how the Son of God left the riches of His eternal empire to become a penniless peasant, not having house or land, bed or pillow. He said, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.” (Matthew 8:20).
Spurgeon said:

“If our riches are really in proportion to His poverty, that poverty, even to bloody sweat and death upon the cross, was so extreme that our riches must be extreme, too. Lift up your eyes, ye sons of light, look beyond that narrow stream of death – over there is your heritage. Do you see that fair city smiling in everlasting light far brighter than the sun? Behold it’s jeweled courses and its twelve foundations, sparkling like a rainbow with diverse hues of wealth; Do you hear, as you stand outside its gates of pearl, the matchless melody of the new song that goes up day without night?
Do you see the white robes of the shining ones, in peerless bliss, as they traverse the pavement of gold, and cast their crowns at the feet of the King their Lord and Savior? All that is yours, and your Lord has given you a guarantee that you shall have it, and all that is needed to bring you there in due time.”
