GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 25

AUGUST 25

OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

1 Peter 4:19

“Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

HELEN STEINER RICE

Out of life’s misery born of man’s sins, a fuller richer life begins;  for when we are helpless with no place to go, and our hearts are heavy and our spirits are low,…..

If we place our poor, broken lives in God’s hands, and surrender completely to His will and demands, the “darkness lifts” and the “sun shines through”, And by His touch we are “born anew”

So praise God for trouble that “cuts like a knife” and disappointments that shatter your life, for with patience to wait and faith to endure, your life will be blessed and your future secure.

For God is but testing your faith and your love before He “appoints you” to rise far above — all of life’s things that so sorely distress you, for God’s only intention is to strengthen and bless you.

This month we will continue the book, “Whatever Happens – How to Stand Firm in Your Faith When the World is Falling Apart.”  By a contemporary author of many best-selling Christian books, Robert J. Morgan.  He took care of his wife when she had MS, until she went home to her Savior.  “He knows of which he speaks.”  I pray that this book blesses you.

Philippians 4:19

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

WHATEVER HAPPENS …..CONSIDER YOURSELF WORTH MILLIONS

It was the best of times for Suleman Dawood, 19, a tall Pakistani university student in Scotland.  He’d finished his first year in business school and was looking forward to summer.  He came from a family of immense wealth.  His every need was provided, yet it never seemed to go to his head.  He was popular among his fellow students as he walked around campus with a Rubik’s cube in his hands and a smile on his face.  He planned to work in the family business after graduating.

His father, Shahzada, with a net worth between $350 million and $400 million, was involved in business ventures across Europe and Asia.  His career has been helped by his friendly face and incisive mind.  In 2012, the World economic forum had named Shahzada a Young Global Leader.  His hobby was photography, and he was close to his son.

The Dawood family had a lovely home in London, but they decided to spend a month in Canada during Suleman’s summer break.  Money was never a problem and during this time father and son were inseparable.  When Father’s day came, they embarked on a great adventure, one that unexpectedly thrust them into global headlines and worldwide alarm.

They descended to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean to see the ruins of the Titanic, and they never returned.  They were among the five who perished when their small submarine imploded under the vast pressures of the watery deep, and their names were tragically added to the sad list of Titanic victims.

Money is not always our friend, and a simple lifestyle isn’t a bad thing.  People with vast wealth can be removed from their money in an instant.  Life has a way of imploding for those who don’t have eternal riches.

We’re much healthier when we minimize the importance of wealth we cannot keep, and maximize our enjoyment of the wealth we cannot lose – the inheritance that’s ours “according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19).

Let’s continue looking at Biblical passages that appraise our inheritance.

Proverbs 28:20 and Romans 10:12

“A faithful person will be richly blessed…..”

“There is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him.”

The Bible is full of the word “blessed,” which conveys the idea of being in an enviable place in life, fortunate, happy, where we want to be, a place that provides rich internal enjoyment.  But we aren’t just blessed.  We are RICHLY blessed if we cultivate faithfulness to God and toward others in all things, large and small.  Jew or Gentile, it doesn’t matter.   The Lord is faithful to us, and we can walk in the footsteps of His faithfulness.
