GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 26

AUGUST 26

OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

Proverbs 8:34

“Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates.”

HELEN STEINER RICE

Just close your eyes and open your heart, and feel your worries and cares depart.  Just yield yourself to the Father above, and let Him hold you secure in His love.

For life on earth grows more involved, with endless problems that can’t be solved, but God only asks us to do our best, then He will take over and finish the rest.

So when you are tired, discouraged and blue, there’s always one door that is open to you….and that is the door to the House of Prayer, and you’ll find God waiting to meet you there.

The House of Prayer is no farther away than the quiet spot where you go to pray, for the heart is a temple when God is there, as we place ourselves in His loving care.

And He hears every prayer and answers each one when we pray in His name “Thy will be done.”  And the burdens that seemed too heavy to bear are lifted away on the Wings of Prayer.

This month we will continue the book, “Whatever Happens – How to Stand Firm in Your Faith When the World is Falling Apart.”  By a contemporary author of many best-selling Christian books, Robert J. Morgan.  He took care of his wife when she had MS, until she went home to her Savior.  “He knows of which he speaks.”  I pray that this book blesses you.

Philippians 4:19

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

WHATEVER HAPPENS …..CONSIDER YOURSELF WORTH MILLIONS

Ephesians 2:4

“God….is rich in mercy….”

We also have the richness of God’s mercy, which is a word that occurs in its various forms almost 200 time in the Bible.  It conveys God’s sympathy and empathy for us when we create problems for ourselves.  It’s His compassion that moves Him to quickly forgive us whenever we confess our sins and return to Him.  It’s His charity that moves Him to meet our needs, untangle our problems, and give us the abundant life, which we don’t deserve, but for Christ.  He isn’t stingy with His mercy.  He bestows it richly.

You and I may never be worth a million dollars, but we’re the recipients of a million blessings; we’re part of a family of untold millions with whom we will share fellowship forever and ever;  our eternal worth and net value is beyond contemplation; and when we’ve been there ten million years, bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise than when we first begun.

Isaiah 33:6

“The Lord will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”

This verse is an answer to prayer.  Isaiah had just asked, “Lord, be gracious to us; we long for You.  Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.” (vs 2).  In response, Isaiah was told, “the Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high;  He will fill Zion with His justice and righteousness.”  (Vs 5).

Then we have this magnificent promise in verse 6:  “He will be the sure foundations for your times.”

In times like these, there is no other sure foundation .  The world has never seen such times as these, when the international economy is  a house of cards, the entire globe could be plunged into darkness by hackers, the leaders of the world are jockeying for power, pandemics could rage, weapons could detonate and the events of the book of Revelation could unfold.

We cannot find a sturdy place to stand in our waffling circumstances.  But the Lord Himself is a sure foundation.  He is our rock, and all other ground is sinking sand.

In Christ, He opens to us a rich storehouse of salvation.  He doesn’t just save us from the transience of earth;  He doesn’t simply take us to a remote corner of heaven.  He opens all the storehouses of His wealth.  He gives us the riches of growing in our knowledge of Him.

The fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.

The reverent awe and respect for the majesty of our wonderful God is a key that unlocks all His riches for His children.
