GOD’S WORD FOR SEPTEMBER 21

SEPTEMBER 21

OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,  and lean not on your own understanding;   In all your ways acknowledge Him,  and He shall direct your paths.”

James 1:5-7

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.   But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.  For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;”

Hebrews 6:11-12

“And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,  that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:6

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Philippians 4:19

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 3:20

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,”

This month we will read choices from Charles Spurgeon’s (known affectionately as the “prince of preachers”)  devotional, “Beside Still Waters.”   It’s no secret that this world system is getting more evil by the day.  We have to stand strong in the Lord and look to Him more than ever to get through, and to be guided through, what is in the future……..known and allowed  by Him alone…..as well as whatever personal things we are experiencing in our lives.

Just as God provided Elijah with bread, meat, and water by the brook Cherith (1 Kings 17:3-4).  He can provide for you.  Is your supply of meal running low?  Is your flask of oil almost empty?  Then where is the God of widows, just as He was with the widow of Zarephath? (1 Kings 17:14).

Do you think that God is dead?  Has it crossed your mind that Divine Providence is a failure?  Do you feel that God is unable to provide for His own?

  DO NOT THINK THAT!!

If you do, your unbelief will prove a punishment.  It will break that meal barrel.  It will dash that oil flask to pieces.  If you waiver, you will receive nothing from the Lord.  But if you keep strong in faith, you will find that Jehovah Jireh – the “Lord Will Provide” – is still His name.

“The Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11)

God can help us to have such confidence in Him that we shall find the Lord God of Elijah supplies our daily needs and feeds us until we want no more.

Sing this song, you tried and tested ones, sing it now:

“The Lord my Shepherd is,

I shall be well supplied;

Since He is mine and I am His,

What can I want besides?”
