GOD’S WORD FOR NOVEMBER 16

NOVEMBER 16

OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

John 15:13-15 – “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.”

John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Luke 12:4 – “And I say to you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.”

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Romans 5:10

“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Revelation 3:20

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

This month we will read choices from Charles Spurgeon’s (known affectionately as the “prince of preachers”)  devotional, “Beside Still Waters.”   It’s no secret that this world system is getting more evil by the day.  We have to stand strong in the Lord and look to Him more than ever to get through, and to be guided through, what is in the future……..known and allowed  by Him alone…..as well as whatever personal things we are experiencing in our lives.

PASTOR SPURGEON:

Luke 8:25

“But He said to them, “Where is your faith?” and they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

These daily devotions mainly deal with the Lord helping, blessing, protecting, providing and guiding those who have given their lives to Him.  He is their Comforter, in troubled times and a rejoicing brother and friend in  good times.   There is nothing that a believer goes through that he doesn’t go through with the Lord Jesus Christ.  He has already experienced our very lives.  Nothing is new or foreign to Him in our lives, and He is the One who “Sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24).

But, I have a terribly sad thought.  Some of you reading this are not believers.  You have never trusted in Christ. ( It isn’t enough to believe in God.    The devils do that, as do millions upon millions of people on their way to hell.  To be a believer, you must understand and truly believe that Jesus is God…the second person in the Blessed Trinity…..and that He became man, while still remaining God, to take on YOUR SINS……YOUR PERSONAL SINS….and pay the price of eternity in hell, so you don’t have to.   You may say, how could He have already paid eternity’s price?   Finite (like we are) suffering for an infinite time  is equal to Infinite (God) suffering for a finite time.  If He were just a man, and not also God, He would have had to suffer eternally to pay the price, but since He is God, and not in the realm of time, He could legally pay the price and satisfy the Justice of the Triune God of the Universe and Beyond. And to truly trust Him, you must believe that He’s God to accomplish that task, and then it follows that you must submit to Him as God.  Even in worldly traditions, if someone saves the life of another…even just a physical life…that person is a slave to their savior.   The original word for “believe in” Christ always means “to trust completely in, to cling to, to worship and honor…..”   Have you taken this step,….to live completely for Him, and obey Him, trust Him and worship Him with your very life?

If you haven’t You have to fight your own battles, bear your own trials, and carry your own burdens.  These promises don’t apply to the unsaved.  When you come at the last great day before the judgment seat talked about in Romans 14:10, you will be sentenced for your sins and bear their eternal punishment. Every word, every movement, every deed and every thought for your whole life is recorded in the Mind of the Almighty, and you’ll be judged by that, because your sins were never forgiven, being that you never accepted the forgiveness through Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for you.   A very sad thing indeed!   Please change that now!!!!  You don’t have to be in church, it’s a personal commitment.)

Revelation 20:12

“And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened.  (lives of non believers)   And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. (list of believers…forgiven because of Christ’s sacrifice) And the dead (unbelievers) were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.”

Revelation 20:15

“And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”  (Notice, it’s not a judgment of “good vs bad” deeds like some people would like to believe.  It’s simply…..not under the Lordship of Christ, not saved.  This is  because even one tiny unforgiven sin is too much for heaven.)
