GOD’S WORD FOR NOVEMBER 21

NOVEMBER 21

OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

Luke 12:32

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

“ ‘ For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord.

‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways,

And My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

Proverbs 21:1

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water;  He turns it wherever He wishes.”

(Pray for God to change the hearts of wicked leaders.)

Deuteronomy 31:8

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Psalm 73:26

“My flesh and my heart fail;   but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Ecclesiastes 3:11

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.”

Philippians 4:6-7

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

This month we will read choices from Charles Spurgeon’s (known affectionately as the “prince of preachers”)  devotional, “Beside Still Waters.”   It’s no secret that this world system is getting more evil by the day.  We have to stand strong in the Lord and look to Him more than ever to get through, and to be guided through, what is in the future……..known and allowed  by Him alone…..as well as whatever personal things we are experiencing in our lives.

PASTOR SPURGEON:

Do you believe anything is left to chance?  Is there any event outside the circle of divine predestination?  No, my friend, with God there are no contingencies.  The mighty charioteer of Providence has gathered the reins of all the horses, and He guides them according to His infallible wisdom.  Foreknowledge and predestination are in everything, from the motion of a grain of dust to a flaming comet blazing across the sky.

Nothing can happen unless God ordains it; nothing happens without divine power.  The Lord said, “Behold, I have created the blacksmith who blows the coals in the fire….and I have created the spoiler to destroy.”  (Isaiah 54:16).  The most violent people could not move a finger if strength were not lent them by the Lord.

As for nature’s catastrophes, the Lord is distinctly in them.  “He shakes the earth out of its place.”  (Job 9:6).  “He removes the mountains.” (Job 9:5).  Our Father works all things!  Why then should His children be afraid?

Regardless of how tremendous events may be, we know that nothing can happen to shake the kingdom of God, even the gates of Hades shall not prevail against that kingdom. (Matthew 16:18).  Our chief possession lies there, and if that is secure then all is safe.  Our highest, best, and most vital interests are beyond even the shadow of harm.  “Do not fear.”

Suppose an accident should take our lives?  I smile as I think that the worst thing that could happen would be the best thing that could happen.  If we should die, we shall be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:17) (those who are saved).  So, if the worst that can befall is the best that can come, why should we fear?

This is good reasoning.  If you are a believer, and if God is your refuge, there is no logical reason to fear.
