This month we will read choices from Charles Spurgeon’s (known affectionately as the “prince of preachers”)  devotional, “Beside Still Waters.”   It’s no secret that this world system is getting more evil by the day.  We have to stand strong in the Lord and look to Him more than ever to get through, and to be guided through, what is in the future……..known and allowed  by Him alone…..as well as whatever personal things we are experiencing in our lives.

PASTOR SPURGEON:

It is true that God’s people are tested, but it is also true that God’s grace is equal to their trials.  It is true that through many tribulations we enter the kingdom of God. We wade through waters of trials, but the  billows will not overflow us.  Listen to Jeremiah in Lamentations 3:22-23:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

They are new every morning;  great is your faithfulness.”

Compassions!  What a blessed word!

The thought that God’s mercy is always new is pleasing, that it is new every morning is wonderful —New every morning, not  just some mornings, but EVERY morning….from the first of January to the last of December!!!

Every morning brings new mercy.  Every morning ushers in another day.  Every morning brings a reason to praise God, because we have no right to an hour or to even a minute, much less to a day.

We have another day to trust God as Abraham did.  We have another day to reap the golden harvest.  We have another day to be ripened for glory.   And another day to fellowship with the Lord.

God gives us our days.  May He teach us their value for they are pearls of great price.  Then, as each new morning breaks, we may say to Him, “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. 

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not! They are new every morning.  GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS!
