GOD’S WORD FOR JUNE 2

JUNE 2

OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

*** ***

Hebrews 10:4-5

“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:  ‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,  but a body You have prepared for Me.’”

(the sacrifices of animals was only a temporary ritual to show that the Messiah would come and sacrifice Himself to take away sin permanently, which Jesus did…..)

Thus……..

Hebrews 10:12-14

“But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God,  from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.  For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.”

Hebrews 2:3

“how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,”

Colossians 3:17 & 23-24

“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. ~  and whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,  knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

Ephesians 5:1-2

“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.  And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”

We will be reading from a book by Erwin Lutzer, President of Moody Bible Institute.  It’s a short book about Christ’s sacrifice for us.  It’s called simply, “For Us.”

Hebrews 9 is the reading ~ ~ too long to print, but please read the whole chapter.

“It is finished.”

Jesus came to Earth with a task: to suffer, preach, heal, and die.  In the midst of the crucifixion ordeal, He cried out in triumph that He had fulfilled His mission to the last detail.  There was nothing He left undone, nothing to regret.

The heavy curtain separating the Most Holy Place from the rest of the temple was torn in two.  No longer would a high priest need to go in with the blood of animals.  That covenant was over forever.  The doorway to the Most Holy Place stood open to all.

Unlike Jesus, we don’t always clearly see the task God has for us, and we don’t know when we will die.  All  the  more reason to keep our eyes wide open, looking for opportunities to do God’s will.

Live today so that you, too, can say, “It is finished” in your final hour ~ and look forward to hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
