OUR PERSONAL PROMISES

1Thessalonians 5:4-6
“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”
Revelation 21:5
“Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’”
Matthew 16:3
“and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
John 17:16-17
“They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

We are reading a book by Corrie ten Boom, with daily recordings she made to broadcast over Trans World Radio. Her Dutch family sheltered Jews during the Nazi invasion of Holland. As a result, she, her sister Betsy and their father were taken to concentration camps in Germany. The Lord did many miracles to allow both Corrie and Betsy to bring the Gospel to the other women in their camp. Their father was murdered in an extermination camp and Betsy was sick, dying just two weeks before Corrie and the rest were freed. After her freedom, Corrie traveled the world, telling everyone even in remote areas, about salvation through Christ, besides radio and writing many books. This one is entitled, “Not I, but Christ.”

WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN’S CALLING?
In what kind of world are we living? Reading the newspapers and listening to the news sometimes causes me to feel desperate and hopeless. We cannot see the end of it all. We become afraid and ask ourselves where it is leading.
What a comfort it is to read the Bible and to see that God has known for a long, long time everything that is happening now and that He promises us a wonderful future straight through all the dreadful happenings.
The Lord Jesus speaks in His farewell in Luke 21 of the things we now can read in the newspapers.
That hard-to-understand Book of Revelation is now clearer than it was ten or twenty years ago. In that book we read of dreadful things that we can expect, but John wrote from the divine perspective.
In Chapter 21, verse 4, he say: “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.”
When we read the Bible, we can say joyfully: “The best is yet to be!”
Jesus promised He will make all things new. Then this earth, this dark earth, will be covered with the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the bottom of the sea.
When reading God’s blueprint of world history, we receive the safe knowledge that God has plans with this world.
The Lord Jesus warned about watching for the signs of the times. And if we do so, we shall notice that He will return very soon.
How can we be ready? By surrendering to Him, of whom Paul said, “Being confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6).
From this we see that we must not fight, but surrender to the Lord Jesus so He can prepare us for His return.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 tells us:
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it”
Just think what it means: You and I are blameless in soul and body. And it is possible because He, who calls you, is faithful. And He “also will do it.”
When Jesus speaks of our days, He says:
(Luke 21:13,15,18 &28)
“ But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony.”
“for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.”
“But not a hair of your head shall be lost.”
“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

And let us not forget: Revelation 21:5:
“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
What riches for you and for me! And even if things get worse in our lifetime:
“THE BEST IS YET TO BE!”
