We are reading a book by Corrie ten Boom, with daily recordings she made to broadcast over Trans World Radio. Her Dutch family sheltered Jews during the Nazi invasion of Holland. As a result, she, her sister Betsy and their father were taken to concentration camps in Germany. The Lord did many miracles to allow both Corrie and Betsy to bring the Gospel to the other women in their camp. Their father was murdered in an extermination camp and Betsy was sick, dying just two weeks before Corrie and the rest were freed. After her freedom, Corrie traveled the world, telling everyone even in remote areas, about salvation through Christ, besides radio and writing many books. This one is entitled, “Not I, but Christ.”

ARE YOU SAFE?
In Colossians 3:3 we read that our lives are hidden with Christ in God. There is no safer place!
Sometime, I show my hands to make this clear. I put the fingers of my left hand over the thumb and then my right hand over my left. You are, I am, the thumb of my left hand. Jesus is the left hand fingers covering us. Then I put my right hand over my left (over Jesus and us). The right hand is God the Father. So, we are hidden WITH Christ IN God. Of course, to be hidden with Christ in God is infinitely more wonderful than this illustrates.
Years ago I went to Japan. I did not know anybody or the language, so I felt very insecure, especially when alone. Then I opened my Bible and read 1 Peter 1: 3-9:
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.”
What safety! We are kept for the inheritance; the inheritance is kept for us. I had a glimpse of God’s side of the matter.
In Japan everything soon went really well. God opened hearts and doors in a marvelous way for a wonderfully blessed ten months. The bad beginning, however, had been part of the training.
Obedience is very important. Love and obedience belong together. The winds may blow, but there is peace. Jesus was obedient, yes, willing to die on the cross for you and for me. What love!
In the center of a hurricane everything is still. I once experienced this in America, when a storm passed right over our house. A roaring wind blew all around us. Heavy trees were uprooted.
Then suddenly it was quiet; nothing moved. The man sitting next to me said, “Now we are in the center of the hurricane. It is quiet.” It was only a moment before the other part of the hurricane passed over us. Real peace only came when the storm had completely passed.

If we are hidden with Jesus in God, the peace remains. — “therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” (Psalm 4:2)
Although it may be night, we shall experience:
“He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1).

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You give us security in the midst of our insecurities. Thank You that we can be hidden with You in God. Please listen, Lord, to those who now surrender to You, trusting You. How wonderful that they are safe in Your arms. Amen
