We are reading a book by Corrie ten Boom, with daily recordings she made to broadcast over Trans World Radio.  Her Dutch family  sheltered Jews during the Nazi invasion of Holland.  As a result, she, her sister Betsy and their father were taken to concentration camps in Germany. The Lord did many miracles to allow both Corrie and Betsy to bring the Gospel to the other women in their camp.   Their father was murdered in an extermination camp and Betsy was sick, dying just two weeks before Corrie and the rest were freed.  After her freedom, Corrie traveled the world, telling everyone even in remote areas, about salvation through Christ, besides radio and writing many books.  This one is entitled, “Not I, but Christ.”

NOT FEAR, BUT LOVE

Ps 46:1-2

“God is our refuge and strength,  A very present help in trouble.   Therefore we will not fear,

Even though the earth be removed,  and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”

“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.”  (Luke 21:26).

One of the signs of the times that we can expect Jesus’ return soon is the fear in the hearts of men.  When the securities, the certainties of our lives are shaking as never before, there is good reason for fear.  Property is insecure; a good position in life, a large bank account don’t give security.

Now that many children of God begin to see the signs of the times and read the Book of Revelation as something that is possible this year (and had already begun perhaps), there is a sort of awakening.  In America many Christians are occupied with the near future, when we shall not be able to buy or sell, if we refuse the mark of Antichrist (Revelation 13:17).  Now they are seeking refuge in houses and farms with land to grow food.  Is that necessary?  I don’t know.

I believe that God’s children will experience great miracles of protection and deliverance, even if they pass through tribulation.  The Bible gives many securities for now and for what is coming.

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  (2 Timothy 1:7).

It is very important to make room in our hearts for the Holy Spirit; then we shall not fear, though the earth be removed.  When the situation is very dangerous we no longer can count on our own strength.  That is a blessing.  In countries where Christians suffer great tribulation, and persecution, I have seen how the Lord used weak people and children as channels of streams of living water.  Their own strength was not enough, but they trusted Him who filled them with the Spirit – not of fear, “but of power, of love and a sound mine.”  They saw the dangers but also the reality of Jesus’ victory.

When I was in a concentration camp I did not know that I would be one of 20 percent of women who left it alive.  I looked death in the eyes.  When we touch eternity we see all things so simply.  It was as if I saw the devil who was much stronger than I , but then I saw Jesus, who is much stronger than the devil, and together with Him I am much stronger than the devil.  Then fear has to leave.

Those who are with us are more and stronger than those who are against us.  1 John 4:4 says:

“Greater is He that is with you, than he that is in the world.”  What  we can expect, and already begin to see, is that apart from fear there will also be much hatred.  Romans 5:5 is wonderful.  The Holy Spirit in our hearts – this means that the Lord Jesus gives God’s love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given to us.  That love is an immovable thing in the coming days.

Human love fails and will always fail.  God’s love never fails and we shall experience this, we and those with whom we get into touch, for they will see in us that there is no fear, but victorious love, the love of God.  “there is no fear in love”  (1John 4:18).

There will no longer be room for compromise.  It will be yes or no.  Extremes –hatred or love – will govern.  Religion is no security.  Antichrist will be very religious, and he will even make up a world religion, in which he himself will be god.  World history is confused and will grow more so.

Like being in a dangerously thick fog, man will live without perspective.  The Holy Spirit will clearly show us God’s perspective.  Already we can see God’s plan.  The things we experience now are signs of the times, clearly foretold in the Bible, and pointing to the great solution, the wonderful future of God’s kingdom, that will come on earth.  “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”  (Habakkuk 2:14).

Then the leaves of the tree of life will be for the healing of the nations, it says in Revelation 22:2.  So there is a future for the nations.

The future is glorious.  The best is yet to be, and you and I have the privilege to help hasten the coming of Jesus.  Be filled with God’s Spirit, then there will be no fear, but the love of God that conquers.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You send God’s love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given to us.  Thank You that this love will win and that it remains and will cause us not to fear; though the earth be removed and the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.  Hallelujah!  Come quickly, Lord; yes, come quickly.  It is dark on earth.  Please prepare us for the great feast.  Thank You, Lord.  Amen.
