SINS BLOTTED OUT

Luke 16:25

 “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.”

I believe that when God touches the secret spring of memory, everyone of our sins will come back if they have not been blotted out by the blood of the Lord  Jesus Christ, and they will haunt us as eternal ages roll on.

Moody’s comments are chilling.   Imagine existing forever in hell with the memory of your sin upon your conscience.  Imagine reliving each lost opportunity, each infraction of the divine law, fully aware of the holiness and justice of God.  We must urge people to believe the gospel so that their sins will be blotted out by the blood of Jesus (Acts 3:19).

After writing an essay on the doctrine of hell, I was so burdened that I went to our next-door neighbor who was mowing his lawn, and talked to him about his soul.  As it turned out, he gave evidence of already being a believer!  After he died, I witnessed to his widow, but she was not interested in the gospel and gave no indication that she desired to believe on Christ.  She is now deceased and unless she, by God’s grace, changed her  mind, she and her husband will be separated forever.  He in eternal bliss; she in eternal hell, with her sins upon her conscience.

Today, there is someone you know who should hear your testimony and be pointed to Jesus Christ who shields us “from the wrath to come.” (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

PRAYER

Father, forgive me for failing to share the gospel with my neighbors, friends, and relatives.  Please give me wisdom, boldness, and love as I share the Good News of Your redemption.
