GOD’S WORD FOR FEBRUARY 6

We are reading from a daily devotional  called “Running To Win” written by Erwin Lutzer  and the late, great D.L. Moody.   Erwin Lutzer is a light in our day as D.L. Moody was in his.

UP AGAINST LOVE

Romans 8:35

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?”

Now, who is going to do it?  Devils?  Men?  Angel?  Paul throws down a challenge.  He challenges heaven and earth and angels and men and principalities and powers;  not only that, but all things past, present, and future;  all creatures, internal and external, all states, death or life, height or preferment, depth or dungeon, prison or stripes.

Nothing shall separate me from the love of Christ.  Let my enemies come collectively or singly.  I don’t care.  Let them come one and all.  I have no foes that can overcome me.  Why?  Because God has justified me.  I don’t dread death.  Why?  Because Christ has tasted death for me.  I dread no judgment.  Why?  That is past.  I dread no separation, and I anticipate no failure.

Where is love when you need it?  Our Heavenly Father walks with us through our suffering, assuring us that He loves us.  His love is continual, personal, and eternal when we belong to Him.

Divine love is based on the Lover.  There is nothing that can dissuade God from loving those whom He has chosen to redeem.  If He stopped loving us and canceled our redemption, He’d have more to lose than we would —-we would lose our souls, but He would lose His reputation, breaking His covenant.  His reputation is who He is.   Faith that He loves us makes us see beyond the visible to the invisible;  it sees beyond Earth to heaven.  Faith in our Father’s love makes us realize that what God takes away from us is not as important as what He gives us.

If you are a believer and therefore you belong to Jesus,  there is nothing you can ever do to get God to stop loving you.

Father, thank You for all You have done for me in Christ.  Please help me to be secure in Your love.
