GOD’S WORD FOR MARCH 2
GOD’S WORD FOR MARCH 2
We are reading from a daily devotional called “Running To Win” written by Erwin Lutzer and the late, great D.L. Moody. Erwin Lutzer is a light in our day as D.L. Moody was in his. Besides his many ministries, and many books, Pastor Lutzer was Senior Pastor at Moody Church in Chicago for 36 years and now serves as Pastor Emeritus there. He is Chancelor and a former professor at Moody Bible Institute, where he taught Theology and Ministry, and now has numerous radio teachings.

NO MORE THIEVES
“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them, ‘The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.’”
Numbers 6:22-26
D.L. MOODY
I think these are about as sweet verses as we find in the Old Testament. I marked them years ago in my Bible, and many times I have turned to this chapter and read them. They remind us of the loving words of Jesus to His troubled disciples, “It is I; be not afraid.” In John 6:20. The Jewish salutation used to be, as a man went into a house, “Peace be upon this house,” and as he left the house the host would say, “Go in peace.”
ERWIN LUTZER
We return to the topic of peace because everyone seeks peace. The Sunday School teacher wants peace, the drug dealer wants peace, and the alcoholic wants peace. We all seek peace. The question is, “Where can it be found?”
There are certain thieves that steal our peace. One is an inner thief, such as a sense of guilt or regret: then there’s another thief, the outer circumstances of our lives. In talking about peace, I’m talking about a sense of stability, a sense of being guided by God. It is very close in meaning to the word “hope.”
Regardless of your past, you can be brought into God’s presence to experience the joy of reconciliation. That’s what Jesus does for people.
The world gives a peace that is based on circumstances. Jesus Christ promised, “My peace I give to you” in John 14:27. He gives us peace even if circumstances don’t change. He gives peace no matter what the future holds.
PRAYER
Father, when I lack peace, please remind me of Christ’s promises and favor.

Isaiah 25:4-5
For You have been a strength to the poor,

A strength to the needy in his distress,
A refuge from the storm,
A shade from the heat;
For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
You will reduce the noise of aliens,
As heat in a dry place;
As heat in the shadow of a cloud,
The song of the terrible ones will be diminished
