LIVING WATER

LIVING WATER

John Chapter 4 shows Jesus’ identification with humanity.

In verses 1-9, Jesus had to go through Samaria to get to His destination, as He

had to go through humanity to fulfill the Great Plan of God…..Salvation for

Mankind.

The woman at the well questioned Him as to why He was dealing with her,

a Samaritan. The Jews saw themselves as above the Samaritans, and would

not deal with them, nor even talk to them. Here we have Jesus, the second

Person in the Holy Trinity, God Incarnate, stooping to live within time and

space, without His omniscience, Omnipresence, or omnipotence, to live

in the lowness of human existence. She didn’t realize what she was saying,

and the depth of it. He went through this world on His way to the Cross, as

He went through Samaria on His journey, and gave those who were willing

to accept it, His Living Water. Just as He offered it to the woman at the well,

He offers it to each and every human being who ever lived, and who ever will

live on this earth—–including YOU.

She said in verse 11 that the well is deep. When I see things like this, I can

imagine Our Lord hearing people speak, and seeing it from the perspective

of His experiences with His Father in heaven, seeing within her heart, as He

does with each of us, saying, “You think the well is deep? Look within

yourself, My Child…there is a bottomless pit of pain, anger, experiences, pride,

sin, complexities, confusion, disappointments, unforgiveness, ….you say I

cannot get water because the well is deep, how little you know of the depth

of the human heart, My Child. I do not get water from you, but You need to

get it from Me. Your well is deep and stagnant, but Mine is overflowing and

readily available with pure, clean water!”

I believe He was thinking of these things when He said in verse 10, “Jesus

answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that

saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would

have given thee living water.”

There are two things God cannot do. 1. Force someone to do right beyond

their own free will (however He will do all He can to draw them)

2.Pull True Godly love, Joy, Peace, or Goodness from the depths of the human

heart.

Even God cannot make our hearts Godly using our own resources The well

is too deep, and those things belong to us.

There is nothing good within the human heart without a True Personal relationship

with the One True God, creating the Presence and Power of the Holy Spirit and

fellowship with Our Lord and Saviour. This is the creation of the new creature

we become after salvation spoken of in 2 Corinthians:

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;

behold, all things are become new.”

There is only one way to change our faulty hearts into Godly ones, and that is

through Jesus Christ.

This is the Living Water Jesus was speaking of in v. 13 & 14….the wonderful

relationship we have with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, living inside us,

molding us, purifying us, guiding us, comforting us, loving us like no human

being could. He is our everything from that moment on, and we will never

be alone again for all eternity! He washes us clean and keeps us on track, as

we obey and yield to Him, enjoying the comforts of His Presence in the Living

Water flowing in our lives.

This Living Water is also mentioned in Song of Solomon 4:15, Jeremiah 2:13

and 7:13, and John 7:38, for the past and present, and for eternity to come,

the promise is in Zechariah 14:8 and Revelations 7:17.

God is the same, Yesterday, Today and Forever, and His Living Water flows

through us from the Day of our Salvation throughout eternity—-forever in

His Heart and in His arms!!!

All this because Jesus identified with Humanity for our Salvation, and replaced

the stagnant waters of our heart with His Pure, cool, clean, Living Water!!!!
