SPIRITUAL WARFARE, AND JOSHUA 6

SPIRITUAL WARFARE, AND JOSHUA 6

Joshua 6—We have the power of God in us after Salvation and Sanctification, through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Deut. 23:9-14 tells us to repent of all sins before starting and continuously repent through life, and keep walking in the spirit.

Joshua chapter 6 goes through the instructions for the Battle of Jericho, which, in the spiritual parallel, are also our instructions for doing spiritual warfare after we are saved IF the Lord leads us to. We should never attempt it without the knowledge and instruction of the Lord.

Joshua 6:1— “Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out and none came in.”——We need to first bind Satan in Jesus’ Name—in the sole power of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

6:2—“And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.” We must have Courage and Faith, which can only come from total dedication to the Lord, total submission to Him, and a study of His Word, and when we obey Him thoroughly, He will deliver the kings of evil into our hands, in His Power.

6:3—“And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.” Quote Scripture to the demons in Jesus’ Name. Make sure its accurate, and sincere. We must make sure we have repented of everything, and are in obedience to our Lord. The Word of God is like a two-edged sword. The Word of God never returns void, but accomplishes all that it was sent out to do. Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “ For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” When we speak the Word the Lord gives us, we can be sure it will come to pass.

6:4—“And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times and the priests shall blow with trumpets.” ALWAYS DECLARE THE GLORY AND POWER OF THE LORD!!! Blow the Lord’s ram’s horn—make sure all understand that it is in the power of the Lord Jesus Christ that this has been accomplished!

6:5—“And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.” —-It may take a while but the walls will fall—-visual manifestation may take longer than we’d like, but that is in the Lord’s perfect timing….Hold up and hold on!!! After the initial battle, its time to go to our prayer closets and pray for the victims.

6:10—“And Joshua had commanded the people , saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.”—–When the Lord says the bondage is broken, tell the person so they too can believe, and wait for the manifestation. BUT—before that DON’T SAY A WORD!!! AND—NEVER SPEAK YOUR OWN WORDS—ONLY THE WORDS THE LORD GIVES YOU!!!!

6:16– “And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout: for the Lord hath given you the city.” —-PRAISE THE LORD WITHOUT SEEING RESULTS! At this time, the people hadn’t seen any manifestation. Things happen in the spirit world first, before we see them here, and that praise helps the angels to bring it about (Daniel 10:13)

6:17—“And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the Lord: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hit the messengers that we sent.”—–Believe that it will be manifested—not matter how long it takes, keep praising Him and encouraging the victim. The demons will be sent out by God, not us, so trust that the thing is done in the spirit world, and the demons are accursed by God, as His Word says.

6:18—“And ye, in any wise, keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. IN ANY WISE, KEEP YOURSELF FROM THE ACCURSED THING, LEST YOU BECOME ACCURSED” God says what He means! Be careful if you must have contact with the victim—only speak God’s Word given to you for them—the demons can work through them to take you down, to make a breach in the wall of Faith…….and, keep repenting of any sin in any area of you life!!!

6:19–”But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.—Take NO credit—NO pride—It is the Lord’s Power ONLY!

Also, see that you do not profit in any way from doing God’s work in this line!!!!! The power of God is NOT for sale!!!

6:21—“And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.”—Have no mercy on the demons, even if it means temporary suffering for the victims, or yourself—HOLD THE LINE, AND KEEP DECLARING THE VICTORY! Many times, even after the obvious manifestation of victory, demons will work harder to gain control—-KEEP DECLARING THE VICTORY AND PRAISING THE LORD!!! Sometimes the victim will turn on you, whether because of his suffering, or because of the lies of the demons. DO NOT fall prey to this. ONLY listen to the LORD!!!

In Chapter 7 of Joshua, we find that, despite the Lord’s clear command to take no spoils from Jericho, (comparable to taking credit or profit in vs 6:19) Achan did so, and hid them. This is a SERIOUS sin against the Lord, and we see it shown several places in the Word.

One of them is in Numbers 20:8-12, when God told Moses to speak to the rock and water will come out , but in his anger toward the people, he hit the rock twice, and said “ Hear now, ye rebels, must WE fetch you water out of this rock? (emphasis mine)

After that, God said Moses cannot cross the Jordan with the people, because, as the Lord said, “ye believed Me not, to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel…”

In other words, he took the glory due to God alone, in saying that HE (Moses) brought the water forth. Also, he did not believe enough to obey God in every detail, to speak to the rock only.

Strict obedience to the Word of God is imperative to the believer—-whether it is the written Word or a Word spoken through our spirits.

Moses’ punishment was not seeing the Promised Land, after all he went through to lead the people to the Jordan, including the extra 40 years because of their unbelief when they came to the Jordan the first time. (Deuteronomy chapter 1).

As for Achan, taking the spoils of war (Joshua 7-above). The children of Israel won no battles while Achan held the silver and gold secretly. The power and favor of God departed from them while they held a secret. This is true of us individually, also. When we keep secret sins from God Who knows all things, He cannot work with us, because there is a wall between us.

When the children of Israel dug in and found the man at fault, Achan, they stoned him, and all his family and destroyed all his possessions.

When we dig into our own hearts, and find that thing where we are not right with the Lord, we need to confess it (the Lord knowing all things), fall on our faces before Him, ask forgiveness, and ask Him to make things right between Himself and us, He will do it, as He did for the children of Israel in years past.
