GOD’S WORD FOR NOVEMBER 15
GOD’S WORD FOR NOVEMBER 15 ~ ~ Romans 5:8~ ~ “ But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In this verse, Paul is making it clear that salvation isn’t brought about by any good actions, lack of bad actions, or qualities on our part. When Jesus died for each of us, our spirits were dead from our inheritance from our first parents, Adam and Eve’s sin, which brought about the great fall of mankind and allowed satan to take over the world. We could not impress God, nor even be attracted to Jesus because we were spiritually dead. We aren’t even capable of loving Him, or anyone else, with real love, before we’re saved. All we can hope to do is reflect HIS love for us back to Him. Still, in that pitiful state, Jesus died for each of us. Salvation is 100% HIM, and 0% us. Yet, many want to impress Him with good works. We definitely should obey the Bible, and do our best to please God, but not to impress Him. We never could. We do it to bring Him glory, to thank Him for what He has done, and continues to do for us, because we aren’t, and never will be, able to thank Him for so much that we can’t even comprehend.
