GOD’S WORD FOR JUNE 5

GOD’S WORD FOR JUNE 5 ~ ~ Luke 2:2 ~ ~ “(And this taxing was first made when Quirinius was governor of Syria.)”

Skeptics have been trying to make the Word of God a lie since it was written. In the 1800’s they began a widespread campaign to declare God a liar because of Luke 2:2, which says in effect that Quirinius (also called Cyrenius) was the governor of Syria when Jesus was born, which was around 4 B.C.

In secular history, evidence shows that he ruled after 6 A.D. Many people turned away from the entire Bible because of what they thought was one mistake. But the Word of God has NO mistakes. God knows every minute of history first hand. This so-called discrepancy stood, with much damage to peoples’ faith, until 1912

At that time, archaeologists dug up an inscription which said that Quirinius was governor in Syria and Cilicia around 10 B.C. Apparently he governed Syria twice. God knew that, when the Holy Spirit inspired its writing of Luke 2:2. It took many years for secular historians to know it. This shows that, again, HE IS GOD AND WE ARE NOT!

This is not the only time actual, concrete evidence has proven the Word of God as perfectly accurate in every detail. In fact, Dr. Nelson Glueck, President of Hebrew Union College and one of the greatest modern Palestinian archaeologists, said, “absolutely no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference.” He adds, “ (in fact) Scores of findings have been made which confirm in a clear outline or exact detail historical statements of the Bible.”

In traditional writings in other cultures throughout history, we see events such as the flood and the long day of Joshua 10, even among cultures who have never seen a Bible.

These proofs fly in the face of the “nay-sayers” of the Word, but that won’t stop them from trying. They will lose because……………… Revelation 3:14 ~ ~ “…. These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;”
