GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 1

GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 1 ~ ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7 “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”

The Bible is full of promises for the saved. There is at least one for every possible circumstance in life. How do we know they’re true? Because we know the One who gave them. When someone makes a promise to you in this world, you base your belief in that promise on whether that person has a history of being honest and caring enough to do his best to keep that promise, and a reasonable knowledge that he is capable of pulling it off.

In reading God’s Word, we know without a doubt that He has the desire, honesty, and capability of keeping every word He has spoken. After all, He created everything simply with His Word, and Jesus came to save us precisely as predicted in His Word, just to name two things.

But the question is on the other side—the human side. These promises aren’t for everyone. There

is only one promise for the unsaved, repeated uncountable times in uncountable ways throughout the Word of God. The one promise the unsaved have is that they can, if they would desire, be saved. If they take that step of faith, then ALL of the hundreds and hundreds of precise promises in God’s Word are for them!

Every person on earth knows God. If they have eyesight, or knowledge of the world around them, they have seen His works and words in creation.

His Word says so directly in Romans 1:20 ~ ~

“For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”

Without excuse……………..

We ask, “Is the sun going to be out today?”

The sun is out all the time, clouds hide it, trees and buildings hide it and create a form of darkness in the shadows, but the sun is always there.

God is always here too. His work of love is shown in His creation, and in His written Word, but His Presence is always here too. Too many people are not aware of Him. They don’t look up, and they don’t think about where the light of creation, truth, joy, peace, come from. They see everything from an earthly perspective, and their self absorbancy and pride, maybe fear and worldliness, get in the way, like the trees and buildings do for the sun, and they live in a self made darkness, in the shadows of this sinful world.

We, as Christians, are also guilty of this. Instead of trees, we may have pride, idols of ministry, church work, and other good works that have become idolatry to us. Besides that, if we are not walking in the Spirit, we will take on the same worldly sins that plagued us before we were saved. Repentance and dependence of Christ is needed for all of us, no matter what situation we are in.

80 men were in the middle of a blazing forest fire, with no place to go. There was a wall of flames on all sides. Then they heard a plane above them. It circled around a couple times, and when it came around again, a weighted note was dropped. The note explained the situation around them with detailed instructions in what direction to go. They went that way, hoping for the best, because they were going squarely into flames. When they got to another small burned out area, they stopped a while to regain strength and composure. The plane again circled, with another note, giving them directions to the next flame-free island of forest. This went on until they were safely out of the forest.

We, whether we are saved or unsaved, can only see from our earth-bound perspective. We see flames, and we don’t know what is behind the next hot wall. God, of course, can see from His eternal and indescribably higher vantage point. He gives us His Word, showing the way to eternal life, as well as guiding believers on this path of life that we’re traversing with our feet burning many times, afraid to plunge through the flames because we can’t see the other side.

Ephesians 1:21

(Christ is) “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:”

What if those 80 men would have ignored the notes, saying that they don’t know the pilot, and don’t trust him. After all, they can’t see him, and don’t know what he’s like. What if they would have perished because they thought they knew better from the ground than the pilot who could see the entire area and make a wise plan?

Foolish as that would be, that’s what many people do as far as salvation~ ~ not believing the very Word of the True God, and believing “church” leaders, what they were taught, or their own thinking, instead of the High and Mighty One, because they never saw Him, they don’t really know Him, and don’t believe His Word is any more true than their own—–just like the 80 men in the forest could have done concerning the notes from the pilot.

We believers also, make many mistakes because we walk in our own understanding many times, instead of waiting on the Lord to show us the only wise way to go.

Won’t you trust Jesus to take you out of this burning world of evil? You don’t have to perish in the flames. All you have to do is ask Him to be your personal Savior, believing He died for your sins, as His Word says.

Hebrews 7:25 ~ “Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them.”
