GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 3
This is amazing!!!
The relatively rare bucket orchid, Coryanthes, behaves almost like an animal at pollination time. This remarkable ability is essential to its survival.
Coryanthes has a steep-sided flower. Two glands extend over the center of the “bucket” and secrete a clear fluid into the flower after it opens. Just above the pool of fluid inside the bucket, a tunnel opens to the outside of the bucket. At the end of the tunnel are the flower’s pollen and stigma.
When it opens, the flower sends out a strong, sweet odor that can attract male bees from over five miles away. The male bees collect a waxy material on the flower’s surface that they later use in mating rituals. As the number of bees collecting this substance off the flower’s surface increases, so does the likelihood that in the excitement one of them will fall into the pool below. When this happens, the sticky fluid makes it impossible for the bee to make it out of the “top” of the bucket-shaped flower.
However, the tunnel provides an easy exit. But as the bee nears the tunnel’s end, the flower drops down a projection from the tunnel’s ceiling, holding the bee for about ten minutes before freeing him. While the bee is held, the flower glues two packets of pollen to the bee! If it should happen that the bee already has pollen packets, this activity delivers the pollen to the stigma, and pollination is complete.
The Coryanthes orchid not only shows us proof of the Creator, but it shows us how unlimited His creativity and imagination are. Imagine evolutionists and atheists scratching their heads to figure this one out!!!!
It is so complicated, it couldn’t have been even thought of by mankind. It is a beautiful picture of God’s creation working together to accomplish a goal, without injury to any one involved, and yet, housed in such a delicate, beautiful and sweet smelling flower!
There are millions of examples of things like this in creation, and yet, few people even care, being so involved in what this evil world has to offer. While we don’t worship creation, we do worship the God of creation, who has done so many wonderful things ~ ~ yes, “ unfathomable, and wondrous works without number.”.
Actually there are no words to describe the greatness of our Lord!!!! If He put so much into a flower just for pollination, how could it enter our minds that He isn’t constantly waiting for us to completely trust Him? Why is not everyone in awe of Him in every activity and thought?! Between showing us through creation, through His thousands of promises in His Word, and sending the Holy Spirit to enlighten us, what more could He do?
The rest is up to us to respond, asking Him for faith to believe—for salvation, and then for the blessings afterwards.
Hebrews 13:5 (Amp) ~ ~ “Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money , being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”
Lord, we don’t have the vocabulary to tell You how grateful we are for Your grace, nor how to describe You in any of your attributes. Neither did John have the words, that’s why He said, in 1John 3:1 ~ ~ “ Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew him not.” But You know our hearts, and You know the awe we have for who You are. Please impress our very core with Your love for us and bring those unsaved into a knowledge of Your perfect salvation. We praise You, and ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and King. Amen
