GOD’S WORD FOR FEBRUARY 8 ~ ~ John 8:12~ ~ “ Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Oh! for one of those perfect summer nights, sitting outside and watching the fireflies and the stars above!!!

Seems like a ways off, but it’ll come in God’s time. We’re told in the Word that until the end of this world, seasons and time will remain.

Genesis 8:22

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter and day and night shall not cease.”

But do you know what those little light-flickering buggers are saying while you sit and sip your liquid pleasure on your lawn chair?

There have been studies to “enlighten” us on just what those conversations are about.

There are over 200 species of fireflies, and each has it’s own language, emitted through a code of light flashes. They are done with varying series of color, intensity, and length and spacing of flashes. It’s very complicated, with over 200 separate languages, all in the same area on any given night!

It’s actually a lot of flirting—–the males are “cruising the streets”, emitting a given constant invitation in his specific language, and waiting for a response from a female of his species.

Sometimes the females will emit a “not on your life, buddy”, message, and sometimes it’s a positive acceptance. At this time, the male will find her and come closer to investigate the situation.

To us, this looks and seems extremely chaotic, with hundreds or even thousands of variations of 200 species randomly flying and “talking”. But to them, having been created for this very thing, for the perpetuation of their species, it is simply life.

But it’s not exactly all that routine all the time, either. The girls can be a bit nasty sometimes. Maybe some individuals are secret agents of another species. At any rate, they somehow can discern the language of another species!!! Sometimes a female will give a male from a different species the “yes” message, then when he comes near, she’ll kill him and eat him!

They tell us that we can experiment with entering the conversations in the air with a cloth over a flashlight with just a pinhole in the cloth. There’s a project to try if you lead a boring life!

But it’s better, in the long run, to spend our time conversing with the Creator of these and all the magnificent animals and plants on this planet. But most importantly, our Redeemer. He’s waiting to hear from you!!!! Here are just a few of the benefits:

“Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Isaiah 25:8

“He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah 66:22

“For just as the new heavens and the new earth, Which I make, will endure before Me,” declares the Lord, “So will your descendants and your name endure.

Psalm 2:12

“Kiss the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, For His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!”

Psalm 5:11

“But rejoice, all who take refuge in You, Sing for joy forever! And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may rejoice in You.”

Realize that no one is perfect, and cannot get to heaven by his own record. Ask Him to forgive your sins because of the sacrifice on the cross offered by Jesus Christ, then live in gratitude for what He has done.

Revelation 3:20~ ~ “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me”.

OPEN THE DOOR,…WIDE….. YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID—–FOREVER!!!
