GOD’S WORD FOR FEBRUARY 13
GOD’S WORD FOR FEBRUARY 13 ~ ~ 1 Chronicles 16:42a~ ~ “And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God.”
God has created some talented creatures, in all areas. Some put us humans to shame. There is a frog in Borneo that does just that—-at least for me, since I can’t, (as the old saying goes) “carry a tune in a bushel basket”, this frog stays right on pitch, changing with the instrument he’s using.
Not only man makes musical instruments. This talented frog does too!
Research shows that this frog searches out specific tree-holes filled with water. It is from such holes that the frog sits in the water and sings its song to attract females. Of course, these cavities and the amount of water in them vary from tree to tree, providing differing resonances from hole to hole. To deal with this, the frogs have been observed raising and lowering their pitch until they get a resonance. Once they find resonance, the song really begins.
To test this, researchers placed a frog inside a pipe where they could change the water level, thus changing the resonance pitch. Every time they changed the water level, the frog would search for and find the new resonance pitch.
Evolutionary theory would never predict that a frog would learn how to use something in its environment as a musical instrument. However, the Bible says that music is a gift from our Creator, Who can give it to any creature He wants.
We are told to use instruments to praise the Lord, as well as singing.
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, With the lyre and the sound of melody.
Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, took the tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing.
Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord with all kinds of instruments made of juniper wood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets, and cymbals.
To really praise the Lord, we need more than an organ! In fact, we need more than all these things.
Without true worship, they are just “clanging cymbals” (1Corinthians 13).
Praise has to come from us—from our very beings—from our lifestyle, —–from our attitude toward Christ and our fellow believers—-from our love for non believers—-from our desire to save the lost—–from our prayers and witnessing to the lost——-from our study of the Word—-from our obedience to every Word put forth from the Word of God….from our giving of money and time to the Kingdom of God……from our forgiveness of those who hurt us—-from our gentle word to those who are hurting—-from our guidance in the Word to those who are asking——from our deep-hearted repentance—-from our constant prayer and knowledge that Jesus is with us constantly, asking us to talk to Him about everything…..from our living by faith, knowing that when we don’t, it is a sin because we’re putting ourselves on the throne instead of Him,…..knowing that He is in control of EVERYTHING in our little lives, and the entire creation, including the rulers of nations……….from our total submission to and dependence upon, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for EVERYTHING.

THAT is what praise consists of, besides using the gifts, talents, and guidance He gives some, that are obvious in outward worship which is so pleasing to the heart of God, and should contain all the inward things besides!
God has made it possible for those of us who aren’t musical to still worship Him with a ten-stringed instrument!
LIKE THIS:
“O Lord, I will praise You with the instrument of ten strings.
I will praise You with my TWO EYES. I will look only to You.
I will praise You by exalting You with my TWO EARS. I will listen only to Your voice.
I will extol You with the work of my TWO HANDS. I will work in Your service wherever You direct.
I will honor You with my TWO FEET. I will walk in Your statutes, and I will go wherever You lead.
I will magnify Your Holy Name with my TONGUE. I will testify constantly to Your loving-kindness.
I will worship You with my HEART. I will love only You, and I will receive all the unconditional love You pour out in Your mercy, grace, and forgiveness.
I thank You, Lord, for the ten-stringed instrument that You built into my being. Please keep me in tune and play upon me as You will. Please ring out the melodies of Your grace. May the harmony of my praise song bring pleasure to You and Glory to Your name. AMEN”
