GOD’S WORD FOR MARCH 15 ~ ~ 1Chronicles 29:11 ~ ~ “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the and the majesty: for all that is in heaven and earth is Yours; Yours is the Kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.”

The optimum temperature for the hive of honeybees is 95 degrees. How do the bees keep it at this:

If the hive gets too hot in summer, some of the bees act as cooling fans, standing at the entrance of the hive, while beating their wings to create a breeze. This is sometimes called a “beard”. If this doesn’t lower it enough, other bees will fly out and bring back water, spreading it on the walls of the hive. This enhances the work of the cooling bees, with the water’s evaporation.

As the temperature cools in winter, they form a cluster. Since the ones inside the ball of bees are the warmest, they regularly rotate to keep them all at a safe temperature. If the temperature drops more than this can help, they will “shiver”, that is, move their flight muscles as if they’re flying in place. This generates enough heat to keep the temperature regular!

This shivering process does more than keep the hive temperature regular, as important as that is.

It also helps to protect them from predators. If a hive is invaded with chalkboard fungus, bees raise the temperature of the hive to kill the fungus!

If they are attacked by a giant hornet, the bees are unable to sting through the hornet’s tough armor, so they will swarm and surround the hornet, and all of the bees will “shiver”. This will raise the temperature of the hive. They do it until it reaches 116 degrees, the temperature at which the hornet will die. BUT ~ ~ and this is the amazing thing,~ ~ if the temperature reaches 117 degrees, it will kill the bees themselves!!!!

How do they know this??? How do they know the temperature at any given time??? How do they know what to do, and when, and how long???

The unbelieving scientists have absolutely no answers to these questions. But we know the answer is that they, like every creature created by our wonderful God, are programmed to do what they need to do by the Master Programmer of the Universe and beyond!!! He watches even into the behives, when He orchestrates His creatures in nature!!! This, we refer to as instinct. It is really obedience to their Creator.

How much more, the lives of His believing children are watched by Him, and how much more should we obey Him in every detail of our lives.
