GOD’S WORD FOR FEBRUARY 2

RETURN HOME

Luke 19:10

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those that are lost.”

To me, this is one of the sweetest verses in the whole Bible.  In this one short sentence we are told what Christ came into this world for.  He came for a purpose.  He came to do a work.  He came not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

ERWIN LUTZER

Yes, we were lost prodigals, but Jesus came to save us.  Thanks to Him, our Heavenly Father is waiting  for us.  He says,

“I have made provision for you to come back home.  I sent  My Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for sinners so that if you receive Him, I will welcome you home.”

No matter how lost we are, the Spirit can lead us home.

You may be a backslidden believer, perhaps you have never trusted Christ as Savior, or you may be a wandering prodigal, but God sent Jesus so that, in the words of the hymn,

“The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.”

God redeems our messes;  He honors us even as the father honored the wandering prodigal.  Don’t turn away from the Voice drawing you to Jesus.

PRAYER

Father, who is there except You to reach into my heart and deal with the anger that keeps prodigals like me away from you?  Today, I’m coming home.
