GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 16

1John 2:15-16~~ “do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”           This command is so important in these times now!  We are in the midst of an evil world system that is drunk with power!   We are held captive here, as the Israelites were in Babylon.  We MUST be separate from the world, and have a love and an eye for Jesus only.  The love of the Father is in us, if we’re saved, so we cannot be a part of this world system.   The lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, are always the temptations that the devil uses.  He started with Eve in the Garden, with the fruit.   She could do as she pleased (lust of the flesh—- “Hath God really said?”:   the lust of the eyes—It looked so good, and no doubt tasted even better: and the pride of life, when the evil serpent said, “When you eat of it your eyes will be opened, knowing good and evil…..you will be as God”  –that’s the sin that got satan corrupt—the pride of life—he wanted to be “as God”, so he lured her with it, and he tries is on every person sooner or later.   He tried the same three things with Jesus in the desert.  He tries the same with all of us.  That’s why ICorinthians 10:13 says:  “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
