GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 17

GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 17 ~ ~ Matthew 6:33 Amp ~ ~ “  But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” On the surface, Jesus is speaking about not worrying over material and worldly things, but He’s saying much more. I like the way the Amplified version expands it. Simply wishing to be saved, and “believing in Jesus” isn’t a recipe for wealth, as some prosperity preachers would have us believe. Just prior to this, He was speaking against hypocrisy, or a “thin veneer religion” which is convenient, and, hopefully also profitable. Here, He still is on the same subject—worldly thinking. He is telling us to seek Jesus Christ personally—for Whom He is, what He has done, and to truly want to be one with Him and the Father, while truly despising this world. Then, when our hearts are pure before Him, He will provide what we need, that is in His will~ ~ Not necessarily excess, which, if we are one with Him, like we should be, we would not want. He’s talking about a total life change that can only come by and through Jesus Christ through salvation and sanctification. Won’t you dedicate your life to Jesus as Your Lord and Savior?
