GOD’S WORD FOR JANUARY 18 ~ ~ Prov 18:24 Amp ~ ~ “The man of too many friends [chosen indiscriminately] will be broken in pieces and come to ruin, But there is a [true, loving] friend who [is reliable and] sticks closer than a brother.” Worldly friends can tear us apart~ ~ lead us in different directions away from the Lord. Sometimes it’s difficult to see it, because it’s subtle, they mean well, and many times, they aren’t leading us in a bad direction, but just a distancing away from the Lord.

When we run to friends in time of need, before we run to Jesus, we can be torn by their personal opinions, or even revelations from the Lord to them, that may not be what He wants to say to us. When we run directly and immediately to Jesus, He will give us peace, a Godly view of the problem, and of course, direct us in the way we should go. Then, He may (or may not) use friends to verify what He has told us. Not even a beloved brother or sister could do all that. Our Creator and Saviour is our friend and family!!!
