GOD’S WORD FOR APRIL 6 ~ ~ John 5:46 ~ ~ “If you believed Moses you would believe Me, for he wrote about me.” Jesus said this to the Pharisees who were trying to trick Him For many years biblical critics have doubted the existence of writing before Moses.  That’s their excuse for discrediting the authenticity of the Bible, and disputing Moses as the author of the historical part of the Bible.   But, archaeologists have found an ancient library in the city of Ur of the Chaldees.  Remember, that’s where Abraham lived before God called him to move to Canaan.  That was at least 1,000 years before Moses was born.   Some of the stone books found were written even before Abraham’s day!   They were on multiple subjects— “how-to” books for tradesmen,  as well as scholarly subjects, and were written at least 4,000 years ago now.

If a common working man could read and write before Abraham, why wouldn’t Moses, who was educated with the best that Egypt could provide in the House of Pharoah, study and find the best manuscripts in the known world?  So, Yes, it is not “unbelievable” that Moses could and would write the first few books of the Bible—the historical facts of the Creation and forward.  Jesus said he did, and that should be good enough for us!!!   Thank You, Father, that You have provided us with an authentic history of the Creation and of the history of Your chosen people, as a result of which salvation was opened up to us.  We praise You for salvation through Your Dear Son, and it is in His wonderful name and His intercession that we can come to Your throne and praise You.  Amen
