GOD’S WORD FOR MAY 25 ~ ~ James 1:11 ~ ~ “ For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes…”

Man didn’t always know the dangers of too much ultraviolet radiation from the sun. As we learn more about it, we take measures to protect our skin from its effects.

But what about the animals who are out in the sun, and even sleep in the sun for many hours? Many animals who are sensitive are nocturnal, but if they aren’t, or their other habits cause them to be in the hot, direct tropical sun, ……well, as usual, their wonderful Creator has not forgotten them!

For example, the African four-striped grass mouse spends most of its life in the direct, hot sun, God has given him skin that is rich in melanin, which helps protect him for damage. Not only that, but He has given him a “helmet” of sorts. This is an additional layer of melanin-pigmented skin between his skull and the outer dark layer. This helps keep him cool and protected.

The white-tent-making bats have the same thing. They sleep during the day in a position which exposes their heads to the hot South American sun.

This could not happen over millions of years of “evolution” because the animals would die or be deformed because of damage to their brains from the radiation.

God protects His creatures from everything—- How much more will our Creator-Savior-God protect us, who are created in His image?
