GOD’S WORD FOR MAY 29 ~ ~ Psalm 92:12~ ~ “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.”

Psalm 1:2-3 ~ ~ “But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, and on His Law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season,
And its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.”

Back, “in the day” if children were hesitant to go outside and play, their mothers would say something like, “don’t be a hot house flower”. Or sometimes they would tell them that they’ll be weak if they don’t go outside more. All of this is true for plants as well as children.

Just as we’ve been seeing how wonderfully God has created and guided animals, He does the same for all of His creation—-including plants.

We’ve all seen the difference between young plants started and kept too long in the house, with thin, weak stems. They’re slow-growing and unhealthy. In the natural environment, plants experience rain and wind, as well as sun. But why are they different? What happens inside the plant when it’s outside that doesn’t happen inside a window?

Scientists have found that whenever plants (including trees) are stressed by high winds, they immediately add calcium to their cell walls to make their stems or trunks sturdier. It acts as an internal support so each cell is stronger, thus, the entire plant is stronger.

Scientists wanted to see how quickly this took place, so they injected jellyfish genes into some plants. The genes bind to the calcium and emit a blue glow, like in the jellyfish, so the scientists can see the calcium. As they blew air on the plants, the glow brightened instantaneously with the puffs of air. The calcium was there immediately!

This reminds me of how God deals with us. When we meet with losses, tragedies, circumstances that tend to devastate us, Jesus will be there to strengthen us. IMMEDIATELY. He strengthens us from within, as He does with the plants, and the result is a general strengthening to get through the storms of this fallen world, and be closer to Him because of it.

With His animals, plants, and especially His children ~ ~ ~ He assures us in Isaiah 41:10

“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.” And He does this IMMEDIATELY.

Rest assured of that, and praise Him for it, relying upon Him for everything.
