GOD’S WORD FOR JULY 2 ~ ~ Exodus 33:3 ~ ~ “Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey;”
The term, “land flowing with milk and honey” is mentioned 33 times in the Old Testament, always referring to the promised land of God’s chosen people. Needless to say, these two things point to a very fertile land, blooming and green. That means bees!!!
But did you know that bees are bakers? Yup, they make “bee bread”. I don’t think they toast it and put honey on it though. They actually put honey into it. It’s an old bee family secret—literally.
Proportions vary slightly with Grandma Bee’s measurements, but the general idea seems to span the generations. The recipe goes something like this:
First they mix secretions from special glands with specific microorganisms, which in turn make enzymes which are known to release a number of important nutrients from the pollen.
Other microbes are added to make antibiotics and fatty acids which serve as preservatives.
All the way through the process unwanted microbes are constantly being removed, as honey is constantly added as a binder.
The adults can live on honey alone, but the younger worker bees must have some bread in their diets for their glands to produce food needed by the queen and developing larvae.
To make the bread, bees are making use of sophisticated areas of science—namely microbiology, nutritional chemistry and bio chemistry. They’re little winged scientists!
It’s laughingly absurd to think that just “out of the blue” these little insects “just happened” to stumble on this complicated scientific recipe!!!!!!
Psalm 111:2 ~ ~ “Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.”
There are so many works He does in our lives every day. So many are ignored. How that must hurt Him!!!! He knows that without gratitude and a life of praise, we will never meet our potential in Him.
