GOD’S WORD FOR JULY 12

GOD’S WORD FOR JULY 12 ~ ~ James 1:17 ~ ~ “Every good thing and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights with whom there is no shadow of turning.”

How often do we stop and think about every detail of our lives, and how Our Lord and Savior directly makes things match perfectly, like intricate pieces of the puzzle? When we stop and think about it, it will increase our faith to great dimensions. He didn’t create all things and then say, “OK, carry on” NO! Creation has no power to go on by itself, much less, the wisdom to fit together in majestic perfection!!! The Word says that He tells the dear when to give birth. “Nature” doesn’t. Instinct in animals is merely their creator guiding them. The difference between creation and God’s people is that they always willingly obey Him. They weren’t given a choice. They were given a sense of Who He is and a desire to always obey Him. Only man was given free choice. Only man was given a choice of staying in the loving hands of his creator, or trying to go by our own thinking ……incidentally even that ability to think, along with the choice, was graciously given to us by Him……….But He doesn’t want us to obey if we don’t choose to. That wouldn’t be grace, and wouldn’t be consistent with His character.

Still, since it is His desire that none perish (in eternal hell), as we’re told in: 1 Timothy 2:4

“who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” He does everything He can in our lives to show us His grace, mercy and love. When we focus on watching for these things, we are amazed at how much we see, and there is much more that we aren’t capable of seeing.

Let’s look at some examples of how He orchestrated the small things in the Word:

In Matthew chapter 26, Jesus was telling Peter that he will deny Him three times before the rooster crows. Let’s picture being there. There were lots of roosters within hearing distance, but God had to not only make one rooster crow just at the right moment, after Peter denies Christ the third time, He also had to STOP ALL other roosters within hearing distance from crowing before that, otherwise, Peter would not have been struck with what he had done, remembering the details of the words of Jesus. Incidentally, Jesus, having previously changed his name to Peter, (meaning stone) from Simon (meaning unstable), now again calls him Simon, because he is acting in an unstable way, and not firm as a stone, like he will be after this event. Later, when he had repented, He calls him Peter again. God calls those things that are not as though they are, because His Word does not dwell in time, as we do. It is already done when He declares it. (Romans 4:17 ~ “… and calls those things which be not as though they were.”

What about the fish with the coin in its mouth in Mt 17:27? They were needing tax money, and previously Jesus had said to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s, so He paid the tax this way: “However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a stater. Take that and give it to them for you and Me.” A stater is a coin used for taxes. There were a lot of fish in that sea. As with the rooster, He had to control every fish, not just the one that He miraculously put the coin into. What if another fish pushed this guy out of the way and took the bait? No fish would do that, because created creatures love to obey their Creator! Every detail, every moment. Jesus is ALWAYS looking out for us, to teach us, as He was teaching the disciples with the fish.

When Abraham and Isaac went to the land of Moriah, God controlled details again:

Genesis 22:2 ~ ~ Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”

In their climb up the hill, why didn’t they hear any rustling of the brush if that ram was there? Why didn’t he see him sooner? If there was one ram, there would have been other sheep. Where were they?

Just like the rooster and the fish, and numerous other things we don’t even know about, He controlled every little thing, down to what grew where to make things happen for the benefit of His beloved!

The ram was quiet—-something a caught ram would certainly not normally be!!! His Creator soothed him and kept him calm for his ultimate role in which he would honor his Creator for such a time as that, and be a pre-view of the Lamb of God to come.

Let’s see how many things we can see in our life that God manipulates just for us!!
