GOD’S WORD FOR JULY 13
GOD’S WORD FOR JULY 13 ~ ~ Isaiah 28:10 ~ ~ “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.”
We have been learning how God controls the little things, as well as the not so little things, in our lives to bring about the Truths He wants us to know. In the Old Testament He did this in peoples’ lives, along with some very magnificent big things that bring the events of His Salvation to life for us today.
God’s word is so amazing to study!!! It is a 4,000 year story about the salvation of Israel and of the gentiles who were graciously grafted in. The wonderful promises, facts, signs, types are spread throughout the books, given to the prophets throughout the centuries, all of them inspired directly by the Spirit of God, as evidenced by the indisputable Truth that is woven throughout, with no possibility of these men speaking with each other, not to mention manipulating the affairs of men to match the prophesies!!! We’re seeing that the earth itself speaks of the Truth of the Word, with fossil evidence, geographical evidence, and many other ways that His creation speaks to us today.
What really hits our hearts, is when we see the connection between the Old and New Covenant Truths. As the saying goes, “the old is the new foretold, and the new is the old fulfilled.” We see this as abundantly true when we study them both together. It is beyond human capability to make these things happen. Only God could control conditions.
Noah’s Ark was a perfect type of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, and our salvation.
It was built by perfect design, as Jesus’ incarnation was planned through the genetic line to perfectly fulfill the things necessary to fulfill victory over the effects of the fall. It was built to withstand the terribly violent and deep waters that completely changed the face of the earth, and through it all, it stayed steady…..Just as Jesus withstood the full wrath of God at His Crucifixion, and withstood it out of sheer love for us.
Second, it was made of earthly materials—-gopher wood, which was not anything special, but strong enough in itself to withstand the forces, with the correct engineering provided by the detailed instructions from God. Jesus was a man — born in a natural way, (except for being the Son of God, of course), as we’re told in Hebrews 2:18:
“For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.”
He felt pain, sorrow, loneliness, sadness, joy, hunger, and all the things we feel, yet without sin. As the gopher wood, He was “of the earth” in His humanity without ceasing to be God.
God instructed Noah to coat it with pitch on the inside and the outside. This made it perfectly waterproof, so none of the waters of judgment could seep in during the year or more it was in the water.
We, when we are born again, and in Jesus, are sealed in. We’re told that literally in 2 Corinthians 1:22
“who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” This also replicates the wax seals they used in New Testament days to make a declaration official. But the sealing of the ark shows that the water, which was the judgment of God on evil, would never touch those who are in Christ just as the water never came near Noah’s family which was in the ark!!! It was sealed inside and out. We, too, are sealed inside and out. We have Jesus and the Holy Spirit in us to comfort, guide, instruct, guard, teach, for companionship, peace, joy, patience, strength in suffering, …..the list never ends, because His divine Presence never ends! Then we are protected outside, because He has the Plan of Salvation worked out around us, so we know that nothing can happen to us outside without His knowledge and consent.
It took over 100 years for Noah and his sons to build the ark, since it was HUGE! Even using the small cubit measurement, which is unlikely. They more likely used the larger measurement. But, even using the smaller one, 570 normal sized railroad cars would fit into the ark!!!!
Even using the small cubit, there was more than enough room for two of every KIND of animal (not every species) and their food for a year, as well as living quarters. Remember, there was only kinds—example: dog kind, cat kind, cattle kind (which would include all deer, etc.) Species split off in subsequent years after the flood. The ark also had three stories in it.
With that size, and that amount of time, no one can say that the people weren’t warned. I’m sure Noah was a laughing stock, as Christians are today, and I’m sure as he and his sons were climbing and hammering and sawing, they had plenty of time to speak with people about why they were doing it and invite all to come along. But, as many times today, there were no takers. Out of the entire population of the earth, only eight people would obey.
Even with the stability, goodness, promises, safety, and provision in the ark, as we have in Jesus Christ, most people would rather take the wrath of God while trying to “save themselves”. Difficult to understand, but it is their choice.
God told Noah to make just one door on the side and one small window on the top. Even this shows the sign of Christ. There is only one way to salvation—the Lord Jesus Christ—He is the Door. He said so:
John 10:7-9 “ Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
The window at the top shows that we can see Him in our spirit if we seek Him with all our heart.
In John 14:21 He said, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”
And what are those specific commandments, or works?
John 6:28-29 ~ ~ “ Then they asked Him, ‘What are we to do, so that we may habitually be doing the works of God?’ Jesus answered, ‘This is the work of God: that you believe [adhere to, trust in, rely on, and have faith] in the One whom He has sent.’”
EVERYTHING POINTS TO TRUSTING SALVATION THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!!!!!
It doesn’t even end there!! The Bible gives the exact days and lengths of times of the flood events, so we know this:
The EXACT DAY that Noah’s ark landed on Mt. Arrarat, (the end of the deluge) was three days after the (later established) day of PASSOVER. (which is the celebration of God’s plagues on Egypt for enslaving the Israelites and their ultimate salvation from it). This is ALSO the EXACT DAY on the calendar that, (later) Jesus was RESURRECTED FROM THE DEAD! He walked on earth in His resurrected body on the SAME DAY of the year that the ark settled on dry land!! In other words, as the flood was GIVING justice on those who hated God, God was giving justice on Pharoah concerning God’s chosen people, AND Jesus was GIVING justice on satan and his demons for their rebellion against God way back before time began!!!! Victory and a new beginning started in all three places on the same calendar day!! NO MERE MAN OR MEN COULD HAVE PULLED THIS OFF!
So, with all these undeniable proofs, why are some still trying to save themselves with religious works?????
