GOD’S WORD FOR NOVEMBER 7
GOD’S WORD FOR NOVEMBER 7 ~ ~ Psalm 62:2 ~ ~ “He alone is my rock and my salvation, My defense and my strong tower; I will not be shaken or disheartened.”
Tonsils are small organs that are located at the back of the throat. These soft tissues are part of the lymphatic system that makes an important part of the immune system.
Although small glands, these are considered very important.
Tonsils have several uses. The main function of the tonsils is to trap the germs that are entering the body when you breathe in. They act as the first line of defense when infectious germs enter the body. For instance, the tonsils detect bacteria and viruses that enter the body through the mouth and nose and flush them through the lymph, which is a clear and colorless fluid.
In addition to the defense system, the tonsils also prevent foreign objects from sliding into the lungs.
These also filter out bacteria and viruses. Moreover, these also produce white blood cells and antibodies.
Just as many things God has created have spiritual significance, or a spiritual parallel, so it is with the Tonsils.
As part of the Body of Believers, we are vulnerable to the schemes and lies of the world, the devil and our own flesh. Our spiritual life is being bombarded by many “germs” from the outside, from these three sources.
The world around us is constantly flashing full color enticements and glamour to take our eyes off the Lord. But all that glitters is not gold, as they say. Even the devil disguises himself as an angel of light for deception. (2 Corinthians 11:14 ) and he is behind the lures of the world, besides his demons whispering in our ears to embolden our flesh.
But if we ask, the Lord will give us spiritual tonsils to be the first defense against these germs. It’s called discernment, and He will give it to each of His children who want it and will dig into His Word with Him. In the Word it’s called Wisdom, because it’s the wisdom that can only come from God.
James tells us this in James 1:5
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Discernment is necessary in the Christian walk, and it can only come through a personal relationship with Jesus and time spent in His pure word, apart from working to be good, but instead, working out of gratitude for His free gift of forgiveness because of Christ’s finished work on the cross, after which He said, “It is finished”. And so it was.
But, to know and understand the things of Grace and the things of the Father, we need to be in the Word and to ask for wisdom and discernment so we can ward off the poisons of the evil one, as our tonsils were created to ward off germs.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Psalm 51:6 ~ ~ Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
And in the hidden part [of my heart] You will make me know wisdom.
