GOD’S WORD FOR MARCH 7
GOD’S WORD FOR MARCH 7 ~ ~ Psalm 40:5 ~ ~ “Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works. Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order;
If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.”
The kakapo parrot lives in New Zealand, and was thought to be extinct until 1958. It is endangered and protected. The kakapoo, for several reasons, is the most unusual parrot known.
It is one of only a few known parrots that prefers to sleep during the day and becomes active at night,
It is the largest, or at least the heaviest, of all parrot breeds, weighing in at a chunky five pounds, and it is the world’s only non-flying parrot.
It is a very friendly type of bird, though, and while it comes across a little awkward-looking, it is fairly intelligent.
Their social and reproductive life seems to show that out, because in mating season, the males gather in locations that are used year after year for mate selection. Female parrots come to these places to inspect the males to select a mate. This, in itself, isn’t especially strange, as some other species of birds do that.
However, unlike most birds, and a complete turn-around from the weaver birds we talked about earlier, the males provide absolutely no help building the nest or rearing the young.
When we think about their traits, while they may be mostly “un-bird-ish”, they make us think about the variety of people around us. Many are variable in just the same traits as this parrot.
Yet, just as our Wonderful Creator made the feathered Kakapoo unique, so He has made each of us unique, and, isn’t it great to know that our Savior knows each one of us, and teaches and comforts us as only He can, and, yet, we, together are His Bride.
“For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,”
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
Ps 84:11

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
Ps 103:13-14
As a father pities his children,
So the Lord pities those who fear Him.
For He knows our frame;
He remembers that we are dust.
He even put a tattoo of each of us on the palm of His hand!
