GOD’S WORD FOR JUNE 14
GOD’S WORD FOR JUNE 14
We are reading from a daily devotional called “Running To Win” written by Erwin Lutzer and the late, great D.L. Moody. Erwin Lutzer is a light in our day as D.L. Moody was in his. Besides his many ministries, and many books, Pastor Lutzer was Senior Pastor at Moody Church in Chicago for 36 years and now serves as Pastor Emeritus there. He is Chancelor and a former professor at Moody Bible Institute, where he taught Theology and Ministry, and now has numerous radio teachings.

NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD
1 John 1:7
“the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
D.L. MOODY
You may pile up your sins till they rise like a dark mountain, and then multiply them by ten thousand, taking into account those you cannot think of: and after you have tried to enumerate all the sins you have ever committed, just let me give you one verse, “the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” And that mountain will melt away.
ERWIN LUTZER
We all have within us a sin factory, manufacturing truckload after truckload of sin. Jesus said that evil thoughts (stubbornness, self-will, murder, violence, revenge, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witnesses, and slander, to name just a few), exist within the human heart, we’re told in Mark 7:21. The seeds are there in all of us. What an indictment!
Yet, paradoxically, we read, “Have confidence to enter the holy places – the very throne room of God! – by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19). That means there is no sin you can ever commit, no sin so great that could devalue the blood of Christ.
I frequently receive letters from people who think they have committed the unpardonable sin. True, there is an unpardonable sin, but it is always committed by unbelievers who say “no” to God too long and too often. It is not that they cannot be forgiven, but that they are determined not to accept God’s forgiveness.
To put it clearly: The issue is never the greatness of our sin, but rather the wonder of the gift of righteousness given to us when we believe the gospel. The blood gives us the right to be called children of God.
PRAYER
Father, thank you for the blood of Christ, which cleansed me from my sins.

Hebrews 9:12-14

and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all time, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
