GOD’S WORD FOR AUGUST 7

Matthew 11:28&29—Amp. ~~ “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation].Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. ” God is not religious. Rituals don’t necessarily show a true heart. There could still be a true heart for the Lord, for sure, but the rituals don’t impress Him. On the contrary, sometimes they just stress the people out and burden them. This is what the pharisees put onto the Jewish people in Jesus’ time on earth. But true peace is gotten through a simple, sincere, relationship with Jesus, where we can come to Him with anything, from our sins to our simple joys of life, and know He’ll respond with Love. That’s why He says His burden is light, and His yoke is easy. We don’t have to “measure up” or “be good enough” for Him to accept us. He will accept us as we are when we come to Him, but He will never leave us there. He will always help us do those things that please Him. It just doesn’t get any better than that!!!
