GOD’S WORD FOR DECEMBER 7 ~ ~ Isaiah 9:6 ~ ~ “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” These are just a few of the names of Jesus, He is truly all these things and so much more, but He can only be these things to us when we allow Him to. He won’t force Himself on anyone. It’s always our choice, and we will get as much of Him as we will receive. Government is control for the good of the person or group. When we accept Him as Governor of our lives, He will direct activities around us for our good always. He is the Wonderful Counselor. He will guide us in every decision—-nothing is too small or too large to totally rely on Him. He is the Prince of Peace ~ ~ the Prince of Shalom. Our language doesn’t do justice to words like some other languages. Shalom, the Hebrew word for peace, means that our lives will be ordered, and every part and parcel of our lives will be in line and in obedience to God, causing a formidable err of humility, meekness, wisdom, and self control about us. Gone will be negative emotions, and with it, gone will be drama and bickering in homes and other groups. Shalom is a very complicated and encompassing word, that is front and center in the mind of most believing Hebrews. It is a heartfelt greeting in Israel, and it is a prayer that the person will be obedient and blessed by God. But, we can’t have that without first being saved, then as His children, having our minds and hearts clinging to Him constantly, always having Him on our minds, and choosing to receive the guidance and Shalom that He offers, choosing to obey the guidance He gives. Thank You, Father, and Lord Jesus, that You control all things. You control time, seasons, and all things that touch our lives. All things are orchestrated by You for our good. Our thanksgiving for that cannot be expressed in this life. Even that, must come from Your power. Please help us to be obedient to Your guidance, both in our hearts and in Your Word. We praise You forever. We pray this because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord, and His intercession for us. Amen
