GOD’S WORD FOR MAY 14

GOD’S WORD FOR MAY 14 ~ ~Jeremiah 10:12—But God made the earth by His power; He founded the world by His wisdom and by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.”

Satan can’t think of anything by himself. He can only pervert the Word of God. He started in the garden with Eve, saying, “hath God (really) said?” He’s still saying that daily to believers, and many are falling for it and questioning God’s pure Word.

One area of that questioning is creation. A surprisingly number of people claiming to be Christians believe in evolution. Their form is wrapped in a couple Biblical-sounding terms to make it more acceptable. But a lie is a lie.

They will say that God did create, but that it took millions of years, and He developed everything through evolution, which was powered by God, they say. They use a single verse in 2 Peter 3, taking it DRASTICALLY out of context. We can’t just pull a verse out and use it to create an entire doctrine!

In chapter 3, verses 1-5, Peter goes into a description of creation, and the worldwide flood in Noah’s day (which is another thing denied by evolutionists). He is establishing the 6-day creation of Genesis chapter 1.

Then in verses 6-9 he goes on to describe just what we’re seeing today, which is the denial of all that he just described, out of the mouths of people in the Church itself. Many are saying today that none of this is true in reality—it’s just symbolic, because Jesus hasn’t come back yet (in their estimate of when He should) They are still looking for “signs”, like the people Jesus spoke of in Matthew 12:38-40 “ Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign; and so no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet;  for just as Jonah was in the stomach of the sea monster for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.”

This is the position of believers of the “Christian Evolution” movement. They dismiss the true basic tenets of the faith, and the events of history involving our Savior and His interaction with the world, but they want a dramatic show from God of their choosing and timing.

They grab onto what Peter said in 2Peter 3:8~ ~ “ But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.”

And they use that to say that creation took thousands of years, not 6 days. But they pulled this out of context, because Peter is using this to PROVE CREATION, NOT DISCREDIT IT! His next statement is this: “ The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.”

He’s telling them that they can’t use the fact that Christ hadn’t returned yet as a basis to throw the whole Word of God out!!! In fact, he says, the reason He hasn’t come yet is that He’s waiting for more people to repent and be saved. Our timing is not His.

The Word of God is true in every detail, and no matter how “theologically” they wrap their arguments, they are spewing a false doctrine. Why does this matter? Because any teaching that sheds doubt on the inherit truth of the Word draws unbelievers away from belief in the other truths—Creation and the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ are the basic pillars of our faith. That is why satan attacks these Truths more than any others. He knows the Word, but he twists it up. That’s all he can do, because he has no ability to create—-he can only pervert what God has created.

That’s why it is imperative that we, as believers, know the Word of God, and teach it to others in love.

Remember what Jesus said in Mt 5:18, “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter shall pass from the Law, (Word of God) until all is accomplished!”
