GOD’S WORD FOR JUNE 18 ~ ~ Psalm 18:28 ~ ~ “For You will light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.”
Many marine creatures reflect surrounding light. They can do so because of tiny light-reflecting platelets. Typically, these crystalline platelets are made of purine, one of the building blocks of DNA, but these particular crystals cannot change how much light they reflect. They are set.
The Hawaiian bobtail squid, however, needs to be able to reflect different levels of light because of its unique lifestyle. This squid glides through moonlit waters but without its special reflective tissue its shadow would be seen as it passes over the bottom.
The bobtail squid has light generating tissue on its underside facing the bottom and this produces just enough light to make its shadow disappear, without calling attention to itself with too much light. In other words, it can generate variable levels of light.
What’s more, the squid can move its light-generating platelets around so that they might be scattered among its cells or concentrated where needed. Rather than being composed of just one amino acid, this squid’s platelets are made up of six amino acids.
Evolutionists like to say that the squid is closely related to some of the first animals that evolved in the sea. Yet, its technically sophisticated camouflage, which perfectly fits its environment and life-style is a testimony to God’s wise design, not the early stages of mindless evolution. The spiritual light of God’s truth makes that clear. God guides the squid to know just how much light to generate in each situation. Now, really, could that actually evolve without intelligence?????
Evolution wants to put to shame the Word of God in the area of creation. That way they can also, they think, do harm to our belief in the Resurrection of Jesus, because these two Truths are the basis of our faith in the One True God. We know them to be true, both by the Word of God and by indisputable physical evidence.
But those who aren’t willing to submit to Jesus Christ alone for their salvation, won’t see the Light that comes from Him, and won’t understand the truth. That’s why Paul said that to the unsaved, the cross alone, without added works and rituals, is foolishness. (1Corinthians 1:18) But Jesus said that He alone is the Light of the World, not rituals or sacrifices, or sacraments:
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
John 1:4-5–In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
We don’t walk in darkness when we follow Him. I believe every creature in His creation is a picture of some aspect of Jesus Christ, in the same way that so many details throughout the Word point to Him in amazing ways.
Throughout time, the Almighty has woven parallel events, and historical events, people, places that compliment and enhance the beauty of Jesus Christ and His salvation to His people Israel and to us today, in the Church Age. We can only see a tiny part of it with our very limited spiritual and intellectual abilities in these bodies, but after our resurrection, we will see Him like He is, and we will be like Him!!!!! What a wonderful future!!!

Live in the Light of Our Lord
