GOD’S WORD FOR MAY 4

GOD’S WORD FOR MAY 4 ~ ~ Acts 2:24 ~ ~ “ whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”

The next gift brought about by the Resurrection to believers is that Jesus defeated death.

Christ rose from the dead because death could no longer hold Him, we no longer have to fear death because Christ has triumphed over it.

“O death where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Previous to Christ’s victory on the cross, death would mean eternal misery, no matter how “good” the person was on earth, because no one could be perfect. Death ruled and gloated over mankind. But Christ overcame death, and defeated it when the Father resurrected Him.

Since then, though we will die physically, we know that our souls do not die. We will be with Him, waiting for the great resurrection at the end when we will receive the same type of body that Jesus was resurrected with.

Sin and death will be eradicated for believers forever!!! Adam’s sin will be judged and paid for, and we will be forever with Jesus Christ!

1Corinthians 15:21 ~ ~ “For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.” This is saying that death came by one man, Adam, because of the first sin, but the resurrection of the dead came by one man, Jesus Christ, because He justifies each individual who repents and trusts Him, so that we are assured of our own Resurrection and eternal life!

1Corinthians 15:26 ~ ~ “The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.” He took the sting (the permanence and misery) of death, so that even though we die physically, we will receive new bodies to live with Him forever, because of His own death and resurrection. He paved the way for us.

1 Corinthians 15:54 ~ ~ “So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” This is explaining that after our physical death, we will never die again.

But, sadly, if you haven’t accepted the fact that Jesus died for YOU and if you don’t repent of your sins and ask Him to live in your heart, you won’t have the resurrection. It isn’t a good prospect. Why would you take the chance?

Will you do it? Will you help others to live forever too?
